4. Technology integration in Education

As we were being introduced to the topic technology integration in Education, I thought it is just using presentation and browsing Google to search information. But there is a lot more. Under this topic, I am going to talk about benefits of using ICT in education on my own understanding.

First, let explain what is mean by technology integration in Education.  It means using learning technology to teach, explore, discuss, share information, supplement and extend skills. It simply means using technology to teach as well as learn. 

When we integrate technology into teaching, there are lots of benefits. We can see improvement in students academic performance. This is because students don’t just acquire knowledge from the teacher but through various sources.

Using technology in the classroom reduces the workload of teachers and makes teaching easy. Teachers can come up with audiovisuals, presentations, tutorials and hands-on activities to make teaching more effective.  Integrating different activities using technology motivates students to learn, students are expected to be more interested in the subjects they are studying. It helps students in retention of knowledge for a longer duration.

Every time teaching through the text would be monotonous. Students don’t enjoy much. They will remain whole life believing that learning is monotonous and always learn under compulsion. They don’t even show interest in learning. But if we as a teacher integrate technology into teaching definitely we can make a difference.
