Lesson objectives: At the end of the lesson, each child will be able to:

1.     create at least two additional stories correctly after teachers explanation.

2.     write three number sentence from the given stories correctly after the activity.

Lesson Introduction

(Exchange Greetings)

Teacher:  Since you already know the addition, for today’s class we are going to learn how to write short stories for addition and write number sentence by reading the stories.

Lesson development

Teacher: First, listen to me carefully. Today we will learn how to create addition story. I have 2 pencils and Karma gave me 1 pencil. So now how many pencils do I have altogether.

Expected answer: there are 3 pencils altogether

Teacher: Now let me create the stories by looking at the number sentence. The number sentence that we have here is:

4+2= 6

Teacher: As I was coming to the school, on the way I saw 4 black cows eating the grass. Again 2 brown cows joined them. Now, how many cows are there altogether.

Activity

Instruction: You are going to do one activity. This is an individual work. look at the number sentence below and create an addition story.

1.     4+ 1=5

2.     3+5=8

3.     2+3=5

Monitoring

I will go around the class and see whether they are doing the activity correctly or not and help those students who are having problem

Follow up activity

I will ask each individual student to read the stories that they have created by looking at the addition sentences.
